Water restrictions in Pearly Beach have been lifted with immediate effect on 10 June 2024.
The good rains experienced in the area since the beginning of June 2024 resulted in a substantial increase in the level of the Pearly Beach dam and the Koekemoer dam, which also supplies water to the town, is filled to more than 100% capacity.
Water restrictions were implemented in Pearly Beach from 19 February 2024 to reduce water demand from the Koekemoer and Pearly Beach dams.
The upgrade of the Pearly Beach Water Treatment Works to enable treatment of the brownish Koekemoer Dam water on its own has also been completed and commissioned.
Overstrand Municipality would like to thank every Pearly Beach and Eluxolweni resident for their efforts in conserving water and contributing to savings.
Residents are, however, still encouraged to use water responsibly.
Following this announcement, there are currently no water restrictions applicable in any of the Overstrand towns – but the water services by-law clause 46 will remain in place, which requires that no irrigation takes place between 9:00 and 17:00 daily. This is just good practice, to limit evaporation during the generally warmest period of the day.
